Columbus County Schools ranks #1 among 115 school districts in N.C. for FAFSA completion
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The county’s school district is 1st in the state when it comes to FAFSA completion.
FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It gives students access to grants, loans, and work-study programs to reduce the cost of college.
Columbus County Schools ranked #1 among 115 school districts in the state when it comes to completing the application.
Laura Hunter is Columbus County School’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She said she’s pleased that students and families in Columbus County are making the most of the opportunities to save on a college education.
“Here in Columbus County, we’re a rural district and it’s even more important for us to open up windows and doors for our students after high school to credential, in order to be successful professionals in today’s modern workplace,” Hunter said.
Hunter said currently, nearly 70% of all Columbus County School seniors have completed the FAFSA.
