Wilmington man sentenced on federal drug charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man will spend the next 16 years in prison on federal drug charges. Charles Rudolph Clay, III, pleaded guilty in April to possession with intent to distribute crack and cocaine and possession of a firearm by a felon.

A federal judge handed down the 192-month sentence yesterday. The charges stem from his arrest in December after he bought a kilogram of cocaine from an undercover agent at a New Hanover County fast food restaurant.

Clay is also serving 37 months for a federal parole violation.
