UNCW Board of Trustees approves new parking deck, student housing
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new parking deck and additional student housing will be coming to UNCW after a Board of Trustees special meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The board approved several items on the agenda including a faculty workload policy, a new parking deck, and Phase III of the university’s student housing village. New housing will be built where the soon to be demolished Galloway Hall stands now.
The new parking deck will be located in the northwestern area of campus to provide access to a new welcome center, Randall Library and the Kenan Auditorium.
“As indicated through the campus master planning process, additional parking in the northwestern portion of campus is needed to better accommodate future growth and enable the development of campus,” the agenda states.
Planning for both projects will each have a budget of $750,000 individually.
What the new facilities could look like will be discussed at the board’s next meeting on August 1.
