Halo Hoops and Wilmington YMCA form new partnership
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)- Two groups are joining together to expand youth basketball in Wilmington.
The Wilmington Family YMCA and Halo Hoops are forming a partnership. In a news release, the YMCA says it will look to Halo Hoops to provide leadership and overall program management while the Y will provide operational, financial and tactical support to the program.
Halo Hoops was started in 2000 by Dave and Leslie Davies with a specific focus on basketball.
“We’re excited to be formally partnering with the YMCA,” said Dave Davies. “With a shared vision and combined leadership, we’ll provide an even better experience for kids and their families in the Wilmington community and surrounding areas.”
The Y’s mission is to support Christian principles through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
“Together we look forward to bringing more kids into our basketball program, where they can have the experience of gaining skills and having fun while being on a team,” said Dick Jones. “This partnership will also create more opportunities for volunteer coaches to give back to our community.”
The collaboration is expected to begin with practices on November 14.
