Volunteers give veteran’s home some TLC
SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — It looks like Christmas came a little early for a veteran in Southport.
More than 20 volunteers came together Thursday to give his house some TLC.
Duke Energy volunteers partnered with Brunswick Housing Opportunities’ Home SAFE program to get the job done.
Volunteers made improvements to the home of a veteran’s spouse, who was recently hospitalized.
Volunteers installed new front and back storm doors, made bathroom repairs, installed new energy efficient lighting, and did some interior and exterior cleaning and painting.
“It makes you feel good,” homeowner Lela Tobler said. “To see people come together and still give in a time like this. When you see that there’s a need in the world and people are still reaching out to others, it’s a real blessing.”
This was a part of Duke Energy’s Season4Giving program.
The program gives employees and retirees a chance to support the community throughout November and December.
