County leaders to break ground on new Penderlea School tomorrow

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — After years of concerns and pleas from parents, Pender County leaders will finally break ground on the new Penderlea School tomorrow.

This project is a part of the school bond referendum that voters passed in November of 2014.

Over the last year, commissioners and school board members met several times, because of budget and design issues. The project had to be opened for bidding multiple times before the school board could move forward with it.

The groundbreaking for Penderlea will happen tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at Penderlea School in Willard.

The new Surf City Elementary School groundbreaking is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
