Hampstead Bypass construction to begin 5 years early, set for 2020

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY)– In Pender County, the North Carolina Department of Transportation says the Hampstead Bypass is now five years ahead of schedule.

A DOT spokesman said the department is combining the bypass project with the Hampstead median project.

That allows them to phase the work so there will be fewer impacts to drivers.

The construction on the portion of the bypass, from NC 210 to north of Topsail High School, is scheduled for 2020. The right of way work is set for 2018.
