Fire destroys golf cart facility at Camp Lejeune

ONSLOW COUNTY NC (WWAY) — A fire destroyed a golf cart facility at Paradise Point Golf Course aboard Camp Lejeune early this morning.

A Camp Lejeune spokesman said around 6:30 a.m. police, fire and emergency service units were dispatched to the golf course to respond to a fire which had completely engulfed the golf cart storage building next to the club house. Everyone was evacuated.

The spokesman said a section of Brewster Boulevard, which runs past the clubhouse, remains closed to traffic from the General Housing traffic circle to Charles St. for ongoing response operations.

At 8:15 a.m., the fire department reported the fire was under control. The spokesman said the structure and its contents are a total loss. He said the damages are estimated at $1,100,000. The Camp Lejeune Fire Department will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
