KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Kure Beach Fire Department has installed rescue buoy marker signs at 12 beach areas that see a large number of people.

Each sign contains a rescue buoy, and specific instructions on what to do should someone need rescuing in the water and there is no flotation device available.

These locations include: Davis Rd, E Ave., F Ave., G Ave., H Ave., I Ave., J Ave., Guard Shack, Tower 3, L Ave., M Ave., and N Ave.

The Fire Department will evaluate the success of the pilot program throughout 2024, and if all goes well will place the same rescue buoy markers at all public beach accesses.
