CFPUA schedules 2 service outages for downtown Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will conduct two planned service outages for two separate areas of downtown Wilmington this week. It will also issue Precautionary Boil Advisories following the outages.
The outages will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wednesday, an outage will cover the 300 to 600 block of 4th St, the 100 to 300 block of Castle St, 320 Nun Street, 320 & 402 Church St, 523 3rd St and 601 Front St.
On Thursday, an outage will cover the 600 to 800 block of 4th St, 701 & 704 5th St, all of Fallows Alley and 318 Queen St.
Crews will repair several area water valves as part of CFPUA’s valve replacement program. It will also refurbish a water main beneath 4th Street.
Precautionary Boil Advisories are issued after outages are over because periods of low or no pressure increase the potential for the introduction of bacteria into the water system.
CFPUA customers in the above areas will be asked to boil their water for one minute, and then allow it to cool prior to consumption.
The Precautionary Boil Water Advisories will be in effect until water quality testing has occurred and services have returned to normal, typically within 24 hours.
