CFCC faculty and staff welcome students of all cultures and faiths
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In light of recent events, some members of the Cape Fear Community College faculty and staff assembled outside campus buildings in downtown Wilmington to welcome students of all cultures and faiths.
Faculty and staff members welcomed students with signs, smiles and kind words during the 10 minutes before classes began on Wednesday.
In a mission state for Welcome Wednesday organizers said, “We believe our diversity makes us stronger, wiser, and safer, so we stand together to welcome students from all countries, cultures, and faiths.”
“Personally, we have a desire to make sure that all of our students feel that they are a part of this campus and that they are welcomed here,” English Instructor Dylan Patterson said.
Welcome Wednesday was not an official Cape Fear Community College event.
Organizers said they foresee future Welcome Wednesday events where faculty and staff members welcome students of all abilities, genders and sexual preferences.
