Kure Beach assesses water levels after recent rain showers

KURE BEACH, N.C. (WWAY)– In the past few days, Kure Beach has experienced flooding, with a pop-up rain shower yesterday adding several more inches of rain.

Residents have been dealing with water encroaching on their properties, as shown in the videos and pictures sent in by our viewers.

For several days, the town’s Public Works Division has been working diligently to manage the water runoff from Tropical Storm Debby.

Mayor Allen Oliver emphasized that the town is actively monitoring the situation.

“We are tracking the water issues through our Development and Compliance Office, keeping detailed records, and hoping to avoid further rainstorms like the one we had yesterday,” said Mayor Oliver.

The town advises residents to avoid driving through standing water.

For those who must drive, slow speeds are recommended to prevent pushing water onto other vehicles or into homes, where water levels may be high.

Stay informed on the Kure Beach town website as it continues to address standing water concerns.
