Death investigation in Kure Beach

KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Officials are working on a death investigation in Kure Beach.

Members of the Kure Beach Police Department, Carolina Beach Police Department, Kure Beach Fire Department, and Novant New Hanover EMS were dispatched to the 600 block of North Fort Fisher Blvd. at 5:37 p.m. in reference to an unconscious person on the beach.

First responders arriving on scene began life saving measures, but the person died. No cause of death has been determined at this time, and the case is being directed to the state Medical Examiner’s office.

The Kure Beach Police Dept. is attempting to notify next of kin, so the identity will not be released until that has occurred.
