Habitat for Humanity continues construction on affordable homes
SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity were on the ground Monday building a home for a family in need.
Volunteers were braving the heat to continue construction on a home in Shallotte.
The construction is one of four others going on in our area as part of Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program.
The program gives low-income families the chance to build and own a home with an affordable mortgage.
Construction manager Michael McDaniel said although it’s not easy work, it’s all worth it in the end.
“It’s very gratifying, you know, to come out. You know you’re helping someone get a home for themselves and their children,” he said.
