BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Governor Roy Cooper has announced that the State of North Carolina is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder of a Bladen County woman.
Martha Maxwell, 51, was found stabbed to death on January 20, 1994, in her home at 806 Blue Street in Elizabethtown. The case, which initially prompted then-Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. to offer a reward on September 12, 1994, remains unsolved.
The State Bureau of Investigation Cold Case Unit reopened the investigation on January 25, 2021, in hopes of uncovering new leads.
