Former Horry Co. officer hit, killed woman on the beach due to ‘inattention’

New reports from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety show that the Horry County police officer who hit and killed a woman on the beach in June hit her due to “inattention.”

According to the report, the Horry County Police Dept. truck was parked on private property facing east.

The report states that the driver began pulling forward and “due to inattention,” struck the victim.
