Pooch Plunge: Wilmington’s dogs dive into summer’s final splash
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As summer draws to a close and public pools shut their doors to people, the Robert Strange Public Pool in Wilmington opened up for a special event—welcoming furry friends for a farewell to the season.
Since Wednesday, pups have been diving into the pool and enjoying the last bit of summer fun.
This event, organized by the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina in collaboration with the City of Wilmington, allowed dogs to experience the joys of swimming in a safe and friendly environment.
Dog owner Leah Rebert shared her excitement about the event, saying, “We brought our two dogs here today. We’ve never been to this event before, but we heard about it and thought it would be a great way for them to have some fun. It’s definitely better than having them tear up the house, and the weather is perfect—cool and comfortable.”
Today marked the final day of the Pooch Plunge, capping off a summer tradition for our canine companions.
