Wrightsville Beach resident faces ongoing address confusion

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A local resident is calling for action over a troubling address issue.

Kim Getz, who has lived at 221 Seacrest Drive for seven years, is experiencing significant problems due to a mix-up with a neighboring property.

The confusion began when new residents moved into 221½ Seacrest Drive about a year ago. Despite clear house numbers, overlapping addresses have led to misdelivered mail and packages.

Getz, whose family has been part of the community since the 1970s, initially received items meant for her neighbors, sparking tensions and prompting her to install no-trespassing signs and security cameras.

Further complications arose when her internet provider mistakenly activated service at her address for the neighbors, forcing Getz to switch providers.

Misdelivered mail continues to blur the lines between her property and her neighbor’s, furthering the issue.

Getz expressed her frustration, saying, “So every time I turn around, it is something else because of these neighbors. I want my address back, my peace, and my life. They have me so upside down; it’s ridiculous.”

Wrightsville Beach officials attribute the confusion to changes in lot divisions, which might affect several addresses if corrected.

We attempted to contact the town manager and elected officials for comment but received no response.

As of now, the town has not issued an official statement on how they will address the issue.
