UNCW signs Memorandum of Understanding with Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW announced on Friday that it is partnering with a university from India.

UNCW officials held a signing ceremony Friday afternoon with the Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management representatives, also known as GITAM.

Under the agreement, UNCW and GITAM will host students and faculty from each institution.

Joint events and activities will also be part of the new partnership.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor of GITAM, Professor KNA Achraya, and UNCW Chancellor Aswani Volety said this will be a great opportunity for each school to learn and grow from each other.

“And this is where GITAM is trying to transform. We have our own strengths, UNCW has got its own strengths,” Acharya said.

“We are very excited with this partnership,” Volety said. “The opportunities that India presents and GITAM University presents in terms of working with them and learning from them.”

The agreement between the two universities will last 5 years and will allow each university to explore multiple ways to collaborate.

This is the 4th MOU UNCW has signed with a university from India.
