Man allegedly yells racial slur at children coming home from school
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — An ordinary walk home from the school bus stop was anything but, for David Williams and his brother.
On Wednesday, they say the half a mile walk to get home turned frightening.
“He points at me and says a racial slur, and there’s dogs barking in his car. So, i was shaking my whole way home. I was very scared cause it looked like the dogs were about to attack me,” David Williams said.
Williams says the man allegedly yelled the n-word at him and his brother.
He was terrified and doesn’t understand why someone would want to do that.
“I don’t think anybody should do anyone like that. Especially when they’re a child and they’re coming home from school on a regular basis,” he said.
They told their father, Gregory Williams, who was furious. He believes a parent should never have to worry about something like this.
“You shouldn’t have to worry when your child is getting of the bus, if they have to look over their back when they’re walking home from school. A child, a 13 and 12 year-old. That’s ridiculous and I’m afraid for any child in this neighborhood now,” the father said.
Gregory Williams says he figured out who it was. He went to the magistrate and took out papers for ethnic intimidation and communicating threats.
