WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Former President Donald Trump made a campaign stop in the Port City on Saturday with just 45 days until his election day face off with Kamala Harris.

During the rally held at Wilmington International Airport, the former president appealed to key voter issues like the economy and immigration.

Trump also vowed to end “sanctuary cities” in North Carolina and address homelessness.

“The streets of your cities will be safe and clean, the homeless encampments will be gone, they’re going to be gone, oh you have to see. You have to see some of these encampments, what they’ve done to our cities,” Trump said. “We’ve got to take care of the people but they’re destroying our cities and instead of a planet on the edge or global war, we will have world peace, we won’t have world war three.”

Trump also said he would cut energy bills in half.

“Under the Trump economic plan, we will cut your energy prices in half. Mark it down, you can get very angry at me if we don’t do it, within 12 months your energy prices will be cut in half,” Trump said.

The former president did not make clear how he would cut energy prices, which aren’t decided by one person or organization.

Notably not on the guest speaker line-up at the rally was lieutenant governor and Gubernatorial Candidate Mark Robinson.

Allegations against Robinson emerged this week that he sent racist and antisemitic messages on a pornographic website. Some Republicans have since denounced Robinson, calling for him to drop out of the race, but Trump—a previous ally to Robinson—has remained quiet.

We asked supporters of the former president what they make of the alleged comments.

“I don’t believe anything anybody tells me anymore, so I’m still for him,” one supported said.

“I think it’s false and I think it’s another attack that they’re trying to persuade people to go to the other side,” another supporter added.

“What he does on his own time is his problem, so,” one supporter noted.

“Yeah I heard about it, it’s weird,” another supporter added.

The former president also addressed a potential second debate with Kamala Harris.

“It’s too late to do another, I’d love to in many ways, but it’s too late. The voting is casted, the voters are out there,” Trump said.
