‘No funding’ to dredge Lockwood Folly Inlet
HOLDEN BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Local boaters want the Lockwood Folly Inlet to be dredged. The inlet is located in between Oak Island and Holden Beach.
Some residents recently started a petition with hopes to get the inlet back open.
Holden Beach Mayor Alan Holden says there’s not much that can be done right now because sadly there’s no funding.
He says the inlet is even too shallow for dredging equipment to get in.
It is currently closed because it’s too hazardous for navigation.
