WILMINGTON, NC — High school seniors are invited to a “Post-Secondary Planning” event designed to provide essential information about college and career opportunities. It’s happening on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Laney High School.

This initiative is a collaboration between New Hanover County Schools, UNCW, and Cape Fear Community College. It aims to equip students with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate the post-secondary landscape effectively.

Attendees will have the opportunity to receive valuable information on a range of topics, including college admissions, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and available scholarships. Representatives from NCWorks Career Center, UNCW, Cape Fear Community College, and the College Foundation of North Carolina will be present to answer questions and provide support.

This year, students should be aware that the FAFSA will open on December 1, rather than the traditional October 1 opening. This shift may impact students’ financial aid planning, and representatives will be available to discuss this change in detail.

The event is open to all high school seniors in the region, making it an excellent opportunity for students to gather information and make informed decisions about their future educational and career paths.
