Leland council to vote on feasibility study for possible recreation center

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland Council will be voting next week on whether to spend $60,000 for a feasibility study for a new recreation center.

Town Manager David Hollis said a multi-use recreation center is a topic that has come up several times over the last couple of years.

Hollis said it could include things like aquatics, different kinds of courts, pickleball, and basketball.

“I think there there are certainly a lot of people who think it’s the most important thing and then, there are a lot of people who say that it’s not needed at all, so it’s another issue that needs to be studied and looked at really close before we decide what to do,” Hollis said.

Hollis said this kind of center would cost at least $2 million.

If it moves forward, Hollis said a location has not been determined yet. Council votes on the study on April 20.
