Jeffrey Harmon found responsible for murder of two Wilmington women


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Following investigation, the Wilmington Police department tells WWAY that their detectives, Columbus County Sheriff’s Deputies, Horry County Police and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation found Jeffrey Harmon is solely responsible for the deaths of Eva Jo Jones and Tiffany Cartwright.

Jones, 60, and her daughter Cartwright, 35, were reported missing on April 3rd, according to Wilmington Police.

Around 9:15 p.m on Monday, fire crews responded to a structure fire on Silver Spoon Rd. in Columbus County and discovered two burnt bodies. Police later identified the bodies as Eva Jones and Tiffany Cartwright.

Police say on Tuesday April 4th, Horry County Police responded to the suicide of Jeffrey Harmon.

The investigation to the murder of the women is completed and police found Harmon was indeed responsible.

Wilmington Police say District Attorneys Jon and Ben David say there will be no prosecutions as Harmon is deceased.
