New policy to install bicycle racks approved

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– The Wilmington City Council approved a new policy that will help the city decide where bicycle racks will and can be placed in the city right-of-ways.

The policy will also change the way requests are processed.

The City Council unanimously approved this new measure as bike and pedestrian accesses are a top priority for both the city and citizens of Wilmington.

The policy also outlines a list of items that need to be approved before a bike rack can be installed. All in hopes of making it easier for the city to make a decision.
