Equipment companies busy making tweaks for players ahead of Wells Fargo Championship

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Before we get into the actual tournament action at the Wells Fargo Championship, golf equipment trucks are on the property at Eagle Point Golf Club to assist players.

Manufacturer TaylorMade is one of many at the course. They arrived yesterday and will leave tomorrow.

During this time, golf club experts and technicians are helping players get new grips, new shafts, test equipment, and whatever they need to be prepared to play this week.

TaylorMade PGA Tour Manager Todd Chew says over the three-day stretch they make about 75 to 100 club adjustments.

“A lot of time on the driving range, out on the golf course, a lot of time here in the truck trailer, where we can build anything that the guys may want to add to their bags,” Chew said. “We can make any adjustments we need to make.”

TaylorMade is mainly focused on golf clubs. Its goal is for any sponsored team members to switch to new product and tweak it to best fit them.

More than 70 players are using TaylorMade drivers at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Chew says today is their busiest day. Guys are in and out of the trailer all day long making sure their equipment is good to go so they can play their best on the tee later this week.
