Cape Fear Museum receives traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Architects from downtown to suburbia and back again were the topics for a discussion led by local architect Charles Boney Jr. at the Cape Fear Museum this afternoon.
The discussion goes hand-in-hand with the museums new exhibit. It is a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian.
It takes a look at the development from mid-century suburbs and ideal living.
Cape Fear Museum education coordinator, Amy Thornton said that Boney’s talk gives the exhibit more of a Wilmington perspective on why the designs are coming back in-style.
“Mid-century is so popular right now,”said Thornton. “I think people are very interested in the history of our city. People enjoy the historic downtown, it’s thriving and they are interested to know where it has been.”
Cape Fear Museum offers many other talks on Sundays through the year.
The next program will be June 4th with the Cape Fear Garden Club.
