One killed in Brunswick County crash

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — One woman died after a head-on crash in Bolivia Wednesday.

According to Trooper Morgan with Highway Patrol, the call came in just before 3 p.m. It happened along Midway Road when a 2008 Honda collided with a 2001 Ford pickup truck.

26-year-old Jalessa Hewett was driving east in the Honda when it crossed the center line during a curve and hit 84-year-old Andrew Lewis, who was traveling west in the Ford.

Hewett was killed in the crash. Lewis suffered serious injuries.

Trooper Morgan says speed, alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash.
