Man wanted in Wilmington shooting arrested with additional charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say a man was arrested and facing new charges after being wanted for a few weeks.
On Monday, September 16th, 2024, Wilmington Police units responded to the 4900 block of Vineyard Lane to a report of shots fired. A follow-up investigation by detectives revealed that the shooting was a result of a drug deal.
Warrants for arrest were issued for validated gang member, 31-year-old Quashon Nixon of Wilmington, for Attempted Armed Robbery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with the Intent to Kill, five counts of Discharge Firearm into Occupied Vehicle, and Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon.
On Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024, a partner agency located Nixon in the area of Houston Moore and placed him under arrest for his warrants. Nixon was found to be in possession of a stolen handgun and crack cocaine at the time of his arrest. Nixon was served his warrants for the shooting incident and additionally charged with Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of Stolen Firearm, Felony Carrying a Concealed Handgun, and Possession of Cocaine.
Nixon was transported to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and is being held without bond.
