Wilmington Police respond to Shotspotter alert near grocery store

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police responded to a Shotspotter alert near a grocery store on Friday, October 11.

Police say the Shotspotter alert came in at 8:38 p.m. for a location near Ruth’s Grocery Store in the 900 block of Rankin Street.

Upon arrival, WPD said officers located property damage at a nearby business and a house.

No injuries have been reported.

WPD said after an initial investigation it was determined that this isolated incident was a result of two groups of people shooting at one another.

This is an ongoing investigation.
