Leland Town Council to consider potential annexation of 1,100-acre site

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland Town Council is set to consider a possible annexation of land on Thursday.
Council will consider whether staff should look into the sufficiency of a voluntary annexation request from Jackeys Creek Investors.
The 1,139 acre plot was previously the site of a proposed baseball stadium.
If the motion is approved, town staff will investigate whether the annexation request meets statutory requirements and present their findings to the board. Potential zoning would then be discussed before a public meeting is held.
Town council will meet Thursday at 6 p.m.
