LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The NC Highway Patrol says one person is dead, and the victim will not be identified until their next of kin is notified.

The Highway Patrol says a pedestrian was walking around 8 p.m. on Thursday when they were struck by a vehicle on Mount Misery Road. The driver of that vehicle stopped and went to get help for the victim.

While that person was trying to get help, the pedestrian was hit by two more vehicles coming down the road: a black passenger vehicle and a silver SUV. Highway Patrol says neither of those vehicles stopped; instead, they kept going.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Highway Patrol or the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
