Pender County woman wins $1 million lottery prize

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Rosa Sanchez of Rocky Point struck it big with a $1 million win on a $10 scratch-off ticket.

Sanchez purchased her winning 50X The Cash ticket from PMG PM on N.C. 210 in Rocky Point, according to the N.C. Education Lottery.

When she arrived at lottery headquarters on Monday, Sanchez had to choose between receiving the prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. She chose the lump sum and took home $429,003 after required state and federal tax withholdings, lottery officials said.

The 50X The Cash game, which launched in February, offers six top prizes of $1 million. As of Monday, two $1 million prizes remain to be claimed.
