Did the founder of Topsail Steamer land a deal on Shark Tank?
TOPSAIL ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Last week we told you about a local business that would be featured on ABC’s Shark Tank last Friday night.
Well, we have an update.
Founder and owner of Topsail Steamer Danielle Mahon went into the tank asking for $350,000 for an 8% stake.
After the sharks enjoyed the seafood combination, Mahon walked away with a deal for $350,000 for an 18% stake with Lori Greiner and Todd Graves.
Mahon says she’s a Shark Tank fan, so she had anticipated they would counter by increasing the equity. So, she entered the tank with an idea of how high she would go.
Regardless Mahon says it was great exposure and shares her excitement with us.
“My initial reaction was just complete excitement. I really hadn’t even thought about two sharks going in there. Going in, you just want to make sure you get through your pitch, and you do it well and you are able to answer the questions that you are given, and you represent the business well,” Mahon said.
The due diligence process is still going on and once that closes, she’ll have two new partners in the business.
Mahon adds that since the episode aired, they’ve had an outpouring of interest in the steamer buckets. In just a couple of days they’ve had over 50,000 new visitors to their website.
She is amazed and thanks the community for their positive support throughout the journey.
