Veterans Day events in the Cape Fear and special deals to honor veterans

CAPE FEAR, NC (WWAY) — Veterans Day will be observed on Monday, Nov. 11, to show our respect and gratitude to military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Several events across the Cape Fear are planned leading up to and on Veterans Day.
In addition, lots of businesses will be offering free or discount items to say thanks to our veterans who have served. If you have any events or special offers for veterans you would like for us to include below, please email our newsroom at newsroom@wwaytv3.com.
Events:
- The Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center is hosting a Veterans Day 2024 with a 1940s style USO Show & Dance to honor Southeast North Carolina veterans on Friday, November 8. The show will start at 7:00 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Historic USO Building Preservation Fund. Tickets are $20, on sale at wilmingtoncommunityarts.org.
- Pre-Southeast North Carolina Veterans Parade activities will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, in front of City Hall on Third Street. Click this link to learn more about the parade happening in Wilmington.
- There is a Veterans Celebration Parade in Downtown Whiteville on Saturday 11/9/2024 at 11:00 a.m.
- Wilmington Lodge is hosting a Veterans Appreciation Luncheon. on Saturday, November 9th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce is holding Veterans Breakfast at 8:30 am on Monday. The event will be held at the Leland Cultural Arts Center. This event is free, and all veterans are invited. There will also be a drawing for some prizes. No reservations are required.
- The Town of Belville invites community members and visitors to a heartfelt Veterans Day Celebration of Service on November 11, 2024, at the Belville Riverwalk Park. It will take place at 10:00 a.m.
- The St James Richard H. Stewart, Jr. American Legion Post 543 will host the annual Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, at the St James Community Center on Route 211. The ceremony will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. rain or shine. The ceremony is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend.
- Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) will host a Veterans Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The ceremony will be held in the courtyard behind Union Station, on CFCC’s downtown campus (502 N. Front Street, Wilmington). This event will honor the brave men and women who have served our nation.
- The Committee to Honor America’s Veterans will be hosting a Ceremony in Honor of America’s Veterans. The Ceremony will be held at the Fire Station 1 located at 102 Shoreline Drive in Sunset Beach on Monday at 1:00pm. Please bring a chair and join us for this remembrance.
Free/Special Services:
- As part of its annual Thank a Veteran event, Great Clips will offer free haircuts to veterans and active military service members on Monday. Veterans and active military service members can go to any Great Clips salon in the United States and get a free haircut or a card for a free haircut that can be redeemed during a future visit.
- McDonald’s is offering Free breakfast combo with hash brown and choice of Any Size soft drink, coffee or tea for all active and retired military personnel, and military families, who are in uniform or present a military ID on Veterans Day during breakfast hours.
- Scooter’s Coffee is offering a special thank-you to veterans and active-duty military members in honor of Veterans Day. On Monday, Nov. 11 anyone with a valid Military ID is invited to stop by any of our 825+ locations nationwide to receive a free medium drink as a token of thanks and showing our appreciation for their service and sacrifice.
- Veterans and active-duty military will receive 30% off their purchase, in-store only, at Kohl’s on Monday, Nov. 11.
