New apartments to be built on site of former Cardinal Lanes along Shipyard Blvd

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A popular Wilmington bowling alley is a thing of the past.

Cardinal Lanes on Shipyard Boulevard has been torn down.

Plans are in the works to transform the lot and some surrounding land into a new apartment complex that would be called Shipyard Apartments.

228 single-bedroom and 228 two-bedroom apartments are a part of the plan.

The bowling alley was there for about 5 decades but closed its doors in May of 2023.

It was also used as a location for the 2022 horror movie Scream and an episode of the comedy Welcome to Flatch.
