Crews battling brush fire on I-40

KINGS GRANT, NC (WWAY) — A brush fire closed one lane of I-40 west near the Gordon Rd. area on Monday.

According to New Hanover Fire Rescue, the call came in just after 2 pm, along I-40 near exit 420.

At least six New Hanover County Fire Rescue trucks were on the scene, and one Wilmington FD unit was called to assist as well.

No structures are at risk.
