UNCW conducting a prescribed burn could start next week

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW is planning a prescribed burn within the longleaf pine forest on the main campus over their Winter Break. The burn will be conducted over the course of one day.

The burn area would be around 40 acres bordered by Rose Avenue and Carleton Place.

A UNCW spokesperson says that the burn will be low in intensity, occurring only on the ground (not in the trees) and it is expected to last less than a day.
