Carolina Beach Mural Project announces CB100 MuralFest

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — To celebrate Carolina Beach turning 100 years old next year, the Carolina Beach Mural Project announces an opportunity for North Carolina artists: CB100 MuralFest.
According to a press release, it will be similar to the “Boards Across CB” project in 2022-2023, but this pop-up program will allow for twenty canvases (16 artists + 4 local schools) to participate in a community Open Air Art project at the Carolina Beach Lake on the weekend of May 17-18.
The selected artists (while open to all NC artists, preference will be given to New Hanover County artists) will paint one side of a 4’ x 10’ plywood canvas that will be on display throughout the summer. Plans for the weekend event include food trucks and music.
Selected artists will receive a $400 stipend and 50% of the winning bid when the mural boards are auctioned off on September 8. Proposals are due February 15, and artists will be selected February 28. The RFP and additional submission details can be found on their website. This is a great opportunity for new artists who are looking to become part of the Carolina Beach Mural Project portfolio.
