Aunt B’s Country Kitchen holds inaugural Christmas Eve dinner giveaway in Bladenboro

BLADENBORO, NC (WWAY) — Aunt B’s Country Kitchen celebrated the holiday season on Tuesday afternoon by offering a free Christmas Eve dinner to its customers.

Located in Bladenboro, the restaurant served all of the Christmas classics, from ham and mashed potatoes to green beans, mac and cheese, and even dessert.

Owner Bridget Todd said the dinner allowed some people to spend Christmas Eve with friends and neighbors, instead of being alone.

“We’ve realized now that since we’ve been in the town for a good year that there is a lot of need here,” Bridget said. “So we just want to invite anybody that’s alone. Christmas is a time you want to spend with family and not everybody has family or family around here.”

Owning a restaurant was always Bridget’s dream and the Todd’s first made a name for themselves operating a hot dog stand.

Bridget’s husband Shannon said the dinner served as a way to thank the community and also thank someone else who has always had his back.

“It means a lot to me to be able to do something like this, ” Shannon said. “I ain’t never, thanks to the Lord, I ain’t never been needy for anything and I’m very, very grateful and appreciate that. So this is just my way to give something back to him for all of the stuff he’s given me.”

The kitchen served around 175 meals, both take-out and sit-down in about 3 hours.

The restaurant will celebrate its first anniversary at the end of January.
