UNCW Seahawks secure win over Spartanburg Methodist

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The UNCW Seahawks wrapped up their men’s basketball conference slate with a win over Spartanburg Methodist at Trask Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

Despite many students being home for winter break, the energy in the arena remained high, with fans excited for the action on the court. One of the fan favorites was the chance to win $25,000 with the half-court tosses, along with the thrill of seeing themselves on the jumbo-tron.

WWAY’s Ava Dorn spoke with some younger fans in the stands to find out what they enjoy most about attending a Seahawks game.

“My favorite part is cheering on the Hawks,” said one young fan, while another added, “Mine was being able to interact on the jumbotron and have fun with my friends.”

Fans also enjoy the atmosphere created by the team’s success on the court. “I love watching our score go up!” said one fan, while another mentioned, “I love seeing the friendship on and off the court.”

The Seahawks secured the victory, 99-47.
