Ocean Isle Beach celebrates New Years early with noon countdown

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) –The town of Ocean Isle Beach kicked off the new year early Tuesday with a family friendly celebration. 

The third annual event hosted by the Museum of Coastal Carolina and Ingram Planetarium was held at Town Center Park, with a New Year’s countdown at noon. 

The event hosted food, drinks, and free activities for kids like face painting.  

Assistant Town Administrator Casey Hayes says the celebration is a great way for families to celebrate New Years together. 

“We have a lot of families that are here visiting for the holidays, and it gives parents and families something to do with their kids while their kids are still awake and it’s not past bedtime,” Hayes said. 

Hundreds of people showed up to countdown early and Hayes says the turnout grows each year.
