Topsail Beach bookstore and wine bar closes for good

TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A local business in Topsail beach is closing its doors. 

Quarter Moon Books, Gifts and Wine Bar, which has been in business on the island for three decades held their last day in business on Saturday last week. 

The shop closed with a farewell party, with dozens of people drinking wine and celebrating Quarter Moon’s years of service. 

Owner Lori Fisher says she’s grateful for all the support the community has given her business over the years but says she’s ready to retire. 

“It’s been a wonderful, wonderful experience, and it’s going to be hard to leave but it’s just time. I don’t have the energy that I use to have to keep up with everything,” she said. 

Fisher adds she’s already sold the building to someone who wants to start their own small business in the space.  

No word on what the business will be, though Fisher says they purchased some equipment from the coffee bar.
