Wilmington man wins $200,757 lottery prize

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY)  – A Wilmington man couldn’t believe his luck on Tuesday after a $1 Cash 5 ticket won him a $200,757 jackpot.

David Meehling bought his lucky ticket from the Masonboro Country Store on Masonboro Loop Road in Wilmington. His ticket matched all five numbers in the drawing to win the jackpot. The odds of matching numbers on all five balls are 1 in 962,598.

“I had to look again to make sure I saw it right,” Meehling laughed.

He claimed his prize on Wednesday at lottery headquarters and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $144,044. Meehling said he already has plans for his winnings.

“We like to go on cruises,” he said. “This will make it a lot sweeter next time.”
