Wilmington Fit for Fun Center holds info session about possible new playground

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new inclusive playground could be coming to New Hanover County.

The Wilmington Fit for Fun Center plans to apply for a grant to cover most of the cost of the new playground.

The $235,000 grant would help replace the center’s existing playground, which is 20 years old.

The center held a public information session on Monday to answer questions from the public about the grant.

Recreation supervisor Victoria Carrai said these sessions allow people to share what type of amenities they would like the playground to have.

“That’s all up to what the public wants to see,” Carrai said. “That’s why we’re asking for these public information meetings so that you can provide what you want to see. Hopefully we’ll get lots of ramps up into our playground area to make sure its accessible that way.”

Carrai said once the grant is approved, they would have up to 2 years to replace the existing playground.
