Wilmington social district pilot program approved following second hearing

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington City Council has approved a social district pilot program to go forward.

The council heard a second hearing during Tuesday’s meeting.

The pilot program would create a social district covering 10 blocks in the Brooklyn Arts District.

Between noon and 5 pm on 3 Saturdays in February, people would be able to take alcoholic beverages from one establishment to another, as long as they are holding a properly labeled cup.

The second hearing passed 5 to 2.
