Juvenile charged after stealing vehicle and breaking into local business

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A teenager is charged after allegedly stealing an SUV and breaking into a business.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, a burglary alarm was triggered inside of Exotic Smoke Tobacco and Vape on the 2000 block of South 17th Street.

Police on patrol arrested a 16-year-old boy outside the SUV and found several stolen items inside of his backpack, including the keys to that SUV.

Police have contacted the Office of Juvenile Justice, and the teen is being held under a secure custody order.
