Portion of Water Street closed

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Starting Wednesday, Water Street in downtown Wilmington will close between Grace and Chestnut Streets.

The City of Wilmington said the closure will allow work to being on the $3 million Phase II of the city’s infrastructure improvement project.

A similar project at nearby Riverfront Park took place last year.

This portion of the project will involve putting new water and sewer pipes beneath Water Street.

All businesses in the vicinity will remain open.

The closure is expected to last through late April.
