Man dies from overdose in porta-potty in downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating after a body was found inside a port-a-john in downtown Wilmington.

According to a police spokeswoman, officers responded to the 500 block of S. Front Street, near Castle Street, around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they found a man dead in the port-a-john, along with bindles of heroin. Officials said he may have been inside for awhile.

The death investigation is ongoing.
